Jodi L. Johnson, PhD

PhD in Molecular and Medical Genetics with emphasis in Dermatology.

Dr. Jodi L. Johnson, founder (2016), owner, and editor for DerMEDit, received her PhD in Molecular and Medical Genetics with emphasis in dermatology from Oregon Health & Science University in 2007. Dr. Johnson is faculty at Northwestern University in the departments of Pathology and Dermatology. She currently serves as the Basic Research Program Coordinator for the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University and loves bringing people from multiple disciplines together to ask bigger research questions than they could otherwise ask on their own. Dr. Johnson serves as Executive Director of the Biology of Skin Foundation and has written multiple patient-facing articles for the National Eczema Association. Dr. Johnson delights in working with early career investigators to teach necessary skills for career development including writing, editing, and communication across multiple audiences. She developed and chaired the first Career Development Retreat for Ph.D. researchers for the Society for Investigative Dermatology in May, 2012 and has been the Coordinating Editor for the Methods and Techniques for Skin Research section of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology since 2015. Jodi has worked within diverse basic science and translational research teams where collaborators span university departments, states, and continents. She has decades of experience writing and editing scientific manuscripts, research grants, presentations, and other forms of scientific communication. With certifications in Project Management and Implementation Science from Northwestern University, she is well-equipped to help you with your project needs.
